Hasin Jahan desperate to send husband Mohammed Shami to Jail

Recently an arrest warrant was issued against Indian pacer Mohammed Shami. the Cricketer’s wife Hasin Jahan had lodged a complaint against him and his brother for domestic violence in 2018 and since then this matter has been going on. An order was issued by Kolkata’s Alipore court on Monday telling Shami to surrender in 15 days and apply for bail and Shami’s wife thanked the judicial system for issuing the order. The court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Alipore had given the Indian fast bowler some time since the cricketer is not in India right now and is representing India abroad. The warrant was issued as the brothers did not appear before the court even once after the hearing started.

Shami recently represented Team India in the Caribbean and did quite well. He made his debut for India in 2013, reached the landmark of 150 Test wicket also in this series. He is now a regular member of the Indian team in One Day Internationals and Test matches. He is among the top bowlers in the world right now. Shami has been getting support from the Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) as well as from many of his team members and former Indian cricketers. He is a vital part of the Indian team , especially in Test Cricket and if he is proven guilty, then it will be a huge loss for Indian Cricket as he can trouble most of the batsman around the world and has won many matches for India in the past. He was also part of the recently concluded Cricket World Cup in England and Wales and made a significant contribution whenever he got the opportunity to play. Apart from good line and length, he also has the ability to bowl at good pace (140 km/hr or above) consistently which very few Indian bowlers have been able to do over the years. He was bought by the Kings XI Punjab team in the Indian Premier League and has a big role to play in that league also.

Hasin Jahan said that she has been fighting for one and half years and was getting hopeless. She was not financially strong nor did she have any kind of support. Hasin said that she was trying her level best but  failed and was almost giving up. She further said that it was looking like this case will get ignored and be hidden from public knowledge.  But then she thanked Allah and said that truth always wins. She said that all allegations she had levelled against Shami have been proven right. The judicial system is the same for all and she is really happy and thankful for giving her justice and understanding her pain.

15 days time to surrender-

The arrest warrant has come about six months after the police had filed a charge sheet against Shami under Sections 498 A and 354 A that is domestic violence and sexual harassment respectively of the Indian Penal Code. Hasin also said that if She would not have been from West Bengal and if Mamata Banerjee was not the Chief Minister, then She could not have been able to live safely here and she also blamed Amroha police for harassing her and her daughter. Hasin’s lawyer said that now it is upto Shami if he wants to fight charges or not. He further said it was under Court’s notice that Shami is on national and playing outside India, so that is why he was given 15 days time to surrender.

When did it all Start-

In 2018, the Cricketer’s marital conflict became public when his wife Hasin, took to Facebook to accuse him of domestic violence and extra-marital affairs. This news had come as a shock for many including his die hard fans as Shami had rarely been involved in any controversy before. Hasin had then filed a police complaint against the cricketer and four of his family members reporting various allegations including domestic violence and adultery. . The allegations also included rape by Shami’s elder brother, attempt to murder and physical assault. Later on, the police had dropped some of the allegations while framing the charge sheet. Hasin had also levelled allegations of match fixing against the bowler. The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) withheld Shami from their central contracts list after the allegations.Later in March, 2018 , the BCCI cleared Shami’s contract after their Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) cleared him of corruption charges.

In April 2019, Shami’s wife was taken into police custody after she had created a row at her in-law’s house in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, although she was later given bail. Jahan, who is a former model had joined Congress party in 2018 and grabbed the the limelight after she accused her cricketer husband of match-fixing, adultery, and domestic violence. Well, one thing is for sure that she definitely knows how to make headlines and stay in the spotlight again and again, First of all, the allegations and later joining a national political party.

Hasin Jahan would be really happy as she has been now trying to get her husband punished. But who know’s what’s the reality. She said that was trying her level best but was almost giving up but now this latest decision would have brought back hope for Shami’s estranged wife. She further said that it was like this case will get ignored and be hidden form public knowledge.  But then she thanked Allah and said that truth always wins. She said that all allegations she had levelled against Shami have been proven right. The judicial system is the same for all and she is really happy and thankful for giving her justice and understanding her pain.

Although earlier in 2018 BCCI had withheld Shami’s contract after the allegations but this time the case does not seem to be affecting Shami’s career so far. Reportedly, BCCI will taking any action only after the final court order. One thing is for sure- Indian Cricket Team management and Shami’s fans would be hoping that the court’s decision goes in his favour, considering the form he is in and his importance to the side for ICC Test Championship as well as the other major tournaments coming up.
